Llamedos Holiday Camp Dragon Trials - Newsletter 5
100 Days until Llamedos Holiday Camp! (Purple Alert! Purple Alert!)
This is a very large newsletter due to the inordinate amount of information we have to share with you.
Choosing of the Cavern
This year, rather than finding family members you didn’t know you had, Llamedos Holiday Camp has campers attending to compete in the Dragon Trials.
This means campers are members of the various competing Caverns.
Caverns? We hear you exclaim... yes Dragon Caverns... they are a bit like horse breeding stables.
You can read all about the various caverns over at https://2022.llamedosholidaycamp.com/family/browse
Shortly (in the next week), you will be able to influence which Cavern you would like to join by indicating your favourite three in the guest area.
Please bear in mind that each cavern can only hold 19 people each so whilst you have an influence, it’s not guaranteed that you will get into your first choice!
We will send you an email warning you when the
Choosing of the Cavern will be going live, so you
have a short window in which to discuss with your friends which Cavern you wish to be a member of!
Choosing of the Cavern
won't be open for long though, just a couple of weeks.
Once you have decided which Cavern you would like to be a member of, you cannot change your mind, so make sure you are happy with your choices.
For those who cannot decide within the allotted timescales, Dora and Dilly will be drawing your names from Rincewind's hat.
Talking of Caverns...
T-shirts will be available to pre-order in January.
You will be able to pick up your pre-ordered t-shirt once you arrive at Llamedos Holiday Camp!
We will not be posting these out to anyone and they will only be available to order for a couple of weeks so save your Hogswatch pennies to bag yourself a Dragon Trials T-shirt.
The back designs on these t-shirts will match those of the Dragon caverns with a small Dragon Trials logo on the front.
Events at the Dragon Trials.
If you haven't already done so, please familiarize yourself with the Activities page on our website https://2022.llamedosholidaycamp.com/activities/
There you will find a list of Camp activities that always happen at Llamedos HC, along with a new list of Dragon Trials events.
Of course, we are not revealing all of the events here as we like to keep some surprises!
The Dragon Show
This is the only event you need to prepare in advance for.
Our wonderful judges are looking for the best of the best of the swamp dragons. This event is for the creators, the owners and the darn right untalented amongst you.
We want you to create a Dragon worthy of competing in whichever class fits it.
We don't want them to jump through hoops or sit on command, we just want them to look their derpiest best.
They can be a flyer, a sleeper, an explosion of colour, a riot in a coal mine and everything and anything in between.
There will be categories for hand made and shop bought dragons and we will provide the means to create a dragon on our Arts and Crafts tables for those who didn’t have time to make one before they came to camp.
Example of home-made dragons.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to back a Dragon into a cupboard?
Well wonder no more as we welcome the Dragon Dressage event into our camp arena.
Here you will compete as a team, not only creating your dragons to ride but also riding them in the arena to score points for your cavern.
Lady Decanter and her cohorts will demonstrate the mandatory moves that you will have to make in the arena before letting you all loose in the arena of dreams to make your dragon perform.
Lady Decanter and her cohorts will not only commentate on your performance but they will also mark your performance.
This event promises to not only include all the members of your cavern, but it also promises to be great fun to watch too!
(If you have premade your dressage dragon, you are more than welcome to enter on them. Please help your fellow campers make theirs at the event)
Dragon Flight School
Have you ever wanted to fly? Right up to the sky? But you can’t?
Here's your chance to make a small paper swamp dragon happy.
Not only will you get to create your dragon, decorate them and fold them (experts will be on hand to help), you will then get to fly them down our terrifying target run.
(Pre-made dragons will not be allowed into this event)
Score points by going over, under and through the various targets on our run and be crowned the Champion Flyer.
If you’ve taken part in a Llamedos Holiday Camp Sports afternoon before, you will already know this is no normal sports day.
Dragon Sports will include Feed the Dragon, Hook an Egg, an Agility course and our famous Human Hoopla !
Athletic ability not needed, in fact you are at a disadvantage if you have some!
Our nail biting, heart racing, sweat inducing Dragon Racing is back!
This time with improved and upgraded dragons!
Last time around they heard the noise from the races over on the Vortex Plains!
About our chosen charity The Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary
You can read all about WAMS over on their website https://www.ape-monkey-rescue.org.uk/
You can help WAMS in three very different ways, you can either donate an item to our auction or Fifth Elephant stall, or you can donate something to the food hamper we are putting together for their animals.
The Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary happily accepts food donations which they use to feed their animals all across the Sanctuary. We'll have more information on what they can accept after Hogswatch.
Due to the extreme generosity of our campers in 2020, we will be yet again running an auction at Llamedos Holiday Camp.
If you have an item you wish to donate, please email us with full details as we have a limited amount of time to run the auction!
We will have a Fifth Elephant stall in the Newydd Y Farchnad (NAF) for any smaller, lower value items that you wish to donate. Our team will evaluate what we think they will sell for and price them accordingly.
All monies from the Fifth Elephant stall and the Charity auction will go to our chosen charity for 2022, The Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary.
Important but boring information which is VERY VERY IMPORTANT !!
PLEASE READ !!
Email Newsletter Lists.

If you only got it once, please check the title at the top of this email.
If it says VIN Issue 2 then you are on the Dragon Guest List. (which is good, you need to be)
If it says Newsletter - Issue 5 then you need to contact us ASAP to get on the Dragon Guest List.
If you are a ticket holder and you didn’t get this email at all and you are reading it on our website, please check your spam box for any emails from “email@example.com” and “firstname.lastname@example.org” and whitelist them please. (add them to your contacts)
Please fill in your details !!!
On our website, we ask for a lot of information about you. Your name, your email address, your mobile phone number, your date of birth etc etc.
We need your contact details so we can tell you what is happening (like sending you this email for instance), we need your Badge name so we can print your Camp Pass.
We ask for dietary and allergy information so we don’t inadvertently give you something that will make you ill (or worse - kill you).
One of the primary reasons we ask so many questions is so that in the event of a medical emergency, we have all the details the paramedics and medical teams require to be able to treat you without any issue.
This requires you to disclose to us any health issues, any medication you are taking, any allergies (including things like Penicillin, Chilli, Lactose intolerant etc) because it can affect what treatment the paramedics and the hospital can give you.
It also means you have to give us your correct date of birth and current ICE details (in case of emergency number of someone who can come and collect you/give permission for medical intervention etc)
You may scoff and think “they’ll never need that” but experience has already proved to us otherwise.
If you were to have a seizure or fall and knock yourself out, you are not in a position to convey that information to the medical teams where as we can hand them a nice printout of your details which will save a huge amount of time and maybe your life.
We can guarantee that this information will only be used if the need arises and is accessible only by Rwby and Rincewind.
No other team member has access to that information as your privacy is of utmost importance to us and that information will be destroyed after the event.
So please log in to the Guest Area https://2022.llamedosholidaycamp.com/guestarea/ and fill in your details !!!!!
If you have any issues send us an email with the Subject matter “Let me In Rincewind!” to email@example.com
Diplomat Guests, please remember that the hotel will take the balance of your room/camping spot payment 6 weeks before the event. Please make sure you have the funds available and that the card you used to pay your deposit hasn’t expired.
All rooms are now allocated to attendees.
Thank you to everyone for their patience over the hotel allocation system.
If you want confirmation that you have paid, please contact us..
Transport for The Sessile Oak
Currently Rwby is sorting out transport for those who will be staying at The Sessile Oak.
We have a mini-bus running in the evening after events have finished for the night to transport people back to the Oak, and we should have a coach for the morning run to the Diplomat.
Both will have a small charge that you will need to pay Rwby for.
Unfortunately the transport is one size fits all, as specialised transport is difficult to obtain.
If you have any special requirements with regards to transport, we will provide you with a list of taxi firms.
Payment of Hotel rooms
There are still some outstanding hotel payments, can those campers please contact us with regards to making those payments asap, we really don’t want to have to take hotel rooms away.
You know who you are, don’t make me open a portal to the Dungeon Dimensions!
COVID and Llamedos Holiday Camp
This is really important.
Due to the ongoing pandemic and current governmental legislation within Wales (the portal to Llamedos), we currently have to ask every attendee to show a COVID PASS upon arrival which must cover the dates of the event.
You can access it either through the NHS App or the NHS Website.
For those who live outside of the UK, we will require proof that you have either had two COVID-19 vaccinations or proof of a negative PCR test (taken in the 48 hours before the event starts).
We also must ask that everyone uses some common sense and DO NOT attend if you have any of the extensive list of symptoms of COVID 19.
We must also request that all attendees use hand sanitizer, frequently wash their hands (singing Dai Dai Druid Druid Dai at least twice each time) and do their very best to be respectful of the procedures we are putting in place to protect everyone.
Whilst most Discworld citizens are people who like to hug, please ask before hugging anyone. Many are not comfortable with receiving an unwanted hug in these interesting times, please be mindful of this.
Those procedures will include ventilation (doors and windows will be open as much as we can to allow fresh air to circulate), spacing out of tables, hand sanitizer points and any other procedure the Welsh government insists we put in place to protect everyone from COVID-19.
This may include a lateral flow test upon arrival if the Government requires it for us to proceed with the event.
If a Governmental lockdown occurs, Llamedos Holiday Camp will be rescheduled for a later date.
We seriously hope this doesn't occur as we think it might break Rwby.
We think that is all of it.
We know we have been overtly quiet in the last few months and for that we can only apologise.
Llamedos Holiday Camp has sold out of tickets and making sure we dealt with the hotel rooms in the best possible manner took all the spoons, forks and the teaspoons as well from our limited pool of energy.
In the next seven days we hope to get the “Choosing of the Caverns” website page finished and we will email you to let you know when that will go live.
In the meantime, do talk about it with your fellow campers over on our facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/LlamedosHolidayCamp and decide which cavern you wish to be a member of.
We cannot wait to greet you in March.
Rwby and the Team.
