Llamedos Holiday Camp Scout Jamboree - Newsletter 5
Schmae Campers!
Let's talk about Regional Scout Troops and your place in them. The Scout Jamboree at Llamedos Holiday Camp will host nine regional scout troops from all over the disc. Representatives from each region will work together as a team to compete in friendly, fun activities to become the best of the best of the best.
What Regional Scout Troop Should I Choose?
You will be representing your regional scout troop as one of the top scouts in the region. The region you choose is up to you. Talk with your friends / invite new people to discuss which region you like the sound of the most.
Remember Witches / Wizards / Dwarves / Trolls can be found all over the disc. If the character you wish to portray is an assassin trained in Ankh-Morpork, for example, you could choose the Sto Plans Scout Association or you could choose another region because your character has now moved to another location on the disc.
We can't tell you which regional troop to select but please don't stress over which one you want. Again choose one that you like the sound of or have agreed with the other people you want to be with.
Please remember to include those that have not been to an event before - remember we were all newbies once.
How do I select my regional troop?
You need to sign into the Guest Area of the Llamedos Holiday Camp website. Once voting becomes available you will be able to click on the link to select your regional troop.
When do we get to choose?
On Tuesday 1st August 2023 at 19:00:00 (7pm UK Time) you will be able to select your regional troop from the nine available. Once selected the system will tell you if you are successful, or if not allow you to choose again from the remaining troops. Once you have successfully allocated to your regional scout troop, the ticket summary in the Guest Area will be updated to show your troop.
If you don't see the option - refresh your browser (on PC / Laptop press F5 or drag down the screen to refresh on a mobile device).
Please be careful when making your selection as you don't want to end up in the wrong regional troop. Though I am sure each troop will make all members welcome.
If something goes very wrong and you select the wrong troop by accident let us know via email info@llamedosholidaycamp.com and Rincewind will see what he can do to assist you. There are no guarantees that he can fix it!
What is the Guest Area?
The Guest Area is where you are taken when you sign into the website, there is a menu item entitled Guest Area on our website.
This area shows a summary of your tickets and allows you to edit ticket details etc. It also provides access to the scoreboard so you can keep track of your troops performance during the weekend.
What about Uniforms? I don't want to wear shorts!
You don't have to. You can wear whatever costume you like. The only requirement is that you wear (around your neck) the neckerchief and woggle provided in your essentials knapsack.
The only other requirement is that you wear at least what you would expect to wear at a public swimming baths. (Ie. let's keep the private parts - private!)
Signing in!
Thank you to all that have signed in and allocated their second / third ticket(s) to their guests. There are still a handful of people that either haven't logged in yet or haven't changed the names on their other ticket(s). If you don't sign in you won't be able to vote and will eventually be allocated at random to whichever of the regional scout troops has space.
More Tickets
We still have a small number of tickets available for sale. If you know someone that couldn't purchase both the UK Convention tickets and Llamedos tickets in the same month please do let them know that we still have spare tickets. Once all tickets are sold we will start a waiting list system.
Fill in your personal information
The information we ask for is to help make your stay at Llamedos Holiday Camp as fun and safe as possible. Dietary information, for example, is important to ensure that we can work with the hotel to provide a choice of food for everyone.
Things like date of both etc and health issues might seem a bit intrusive but from experience, having that information available to pass onto any emergency medical team is invaluable. Only Rwby and Rincewind have access to this information and we really hope we never need to use it. If something bad happens, knowing what medication you are on and what your date of birth is, means that first responders could be safely giving you pain relief rather than having to wait to get you to hospital. Again we hope we never need to use this information. Also please don't just input: “ask my partner, they know what drugs I am on.” People panic when a loved one is suffering. Having it written down takes that pressure away and allows us to give a printout to the paramedics with all the information on.
Once the event is over we scrub the database removing personal information. The database for the 2022 event, for example, now only contains a list of badge names, all personal information has been removed.
We will periodically remind you to provide this information. It is totally up to you how much information you want to provide (and we really hope we will never need it).
Choose your Badge Name.
At some point you will need to choose a badge name. Some of you have already done it but many have not. We still have several months before we lock down the badge names and print the physical badges so there is plenty of time to come up with a great badge name.
If you cannot get into your account please email info@llamedosholidaycamp.com and we'll send you a new registration link. If you have previously logged in but can't remember your password click on the reset password link on the sign in page
Don't forget, if you have any queries, please email us using info@llamedosholidaycamp.com
Please do not reply to this newsletter as the mailing account is not monitored.
Speak Soon,
Rincewind and the Team!
Psst. Rwby here: You will receive three sew-on badges in your Jamboree essentials knapsack. In a previous newsletter we suggested potential scout uniforms with a sash for your badges. This was not a compulsory uniform, it was just an idea of what a scout uniform could entail. Mistress Weatherwax has made it very clear to me that she won't be wearing any uniform other than her neckerchief and woggle with her usual dress. And I'm not going to argue with her! Regional Scout T-shirts will be available to purchase before the event.
